How to Make Candle Holders

Candles are a beautiful and decorative addition to any home. Not only do they provide a source of light, which creates a cozy atmosphere, but they also produce a variety of different scents once lighted. In the past, candles were also used as a source of heat and as a way of keeping time. Several accessories have been produced to hold candles over the years, from the simple candlestick to the more sophisticated candelabra (a candle holder with more than one arm) and chandelier (a branched light that is hung from the ceiling).

Candles, and scented candles in particular, have become hugely popular in recent years. You can make your own candles at home, and now you can even try making your own candle holders at home, too! Plastic Spoon Candle Holder for Tea Light Candles

To make a plastic spoon candle holder, you will need 21 plastic spoons, acrylic paint (choose the color that you want your candle holder to be), paper (which should be the same color as the acrylic paint), a hot glue gun, scissors, a pencil and a tea light candle.

1. Use the pencil to draw a three-inch-wide circle on the paper, and then use the scissors to cut out the circle.

2. Use the paint to add color to the spoon’s heads and to about an inch of the spoon’s handles.

3. Use the scissors to cut the spoons, making sure to cut away the handle that has not been painted.

4. Use the hot glue gun to add dots (approximately seven dots for seven spoons) of glue around the edge of the paper circle. Place the spoons on to the dots of glue so that the paper circle almost becomes a flower with petals.

5. Repeat step 4, but this time, glue the spoons on top of and in between the existing spoons to create a second layer of spoons.

6. Repeat step 5, but this time, glue the spoons in the gaps and angle them slightly upwards.

7. Use the pencil to draw a one-inch-wide circle on the paper, then use the scissors to cut out the circle. Once you have done this, use the hot glue gun to glue the paper circle on to the center of the spoon holder to become the base that the tea light candle sits on.

Cinnamon Stick Candle Holder for Candles in Glass Containers

To make a cinnamon stick candle holder, you will need a glass candle holder, cinnamon sticks, ribbon (you choose the color), a hot glue gun, scissors, and a candle in a glass container.

1. Use the scissors to cut the cinnamon sticks to the height of the glass candle holder.

2. Use the hot glue gun to glue the cinnamon sticks all the way around the glass candle holder.

3. Tie a ribbon around the middle of the glass candle holder and knot it with a bow.

Leaf Candle Holder for Tea Light Candles or Electric Candles

To make a leaf candle holder, you will need a fishbowl vase, a selection of different colored leaves, a hot glue gun and a tea light candle.

1. Use the hot glue gun to add a drop of glue to the leaf.

2. Now you can stick the leaf to the top of the fishbowl vase.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the other leaves, making sure to glue the leaves in the same direction from the top to the bottom of the fishbowl vase.

Rope Candle Holder for Pillar Candles

To make a rope candle holder, you will need jute yarn, ribbon (you choose the color), a cardboard cylinder (the cylinder in the middle of duct tape, for example), scissors, a hot glue gun and a pillar candle.

1. Use the scissors to cut however much yarn you need to fully wrap the cardboard cylinder.

2. Use the hot glue gun to glue the yarn to the cardboard cylinder by starting from the bottom and wrapping the yarn around the cylinder until reaching the top.

3. Use the hot glue gun to glue the ribbon once around the bottom of the cylinder and insert the pillar candle into the cylinder.
